People come to therapy feeling stuck, like a knot you can’t untangle. Insight isn’t enough; knowing your attachment style hasn’t changed the plot-line of your relationships. You keep repeating the same patterns, even though you know they’re not what you need.
My work is grounded in a relational, contemporary psychoanalytic approach, which means that without being aware of it, you developed these patterns and symptoms to save your life. Today, they’re no longer serving you.
Our work is a journey to understand why you needed them, how you’ve outgrown them, and begin to let them go. As we explore, I look beyond your words, paying attention to what’s not said: shifts in topic, tone, affect, and body language, along with how relational dynamics show up between us.
We each develop an internal script for how the world works, shaped by early experiences and relationships. It tends to repeat across contexts, often outside of awareness.
We make these patterns more visible, understand where they come from, and question what no longer fits.
THE INTERNAL SCRIPT
Symptoms don’t come out of nowhere. They often function as ways of coping or protecting.
We explore what they’re expressing, where they come from, and what purpose they’ve served.
BENEATH THE SURFACE
As we work, these patterns show up in real time, including in the therapeutic relationship.
When the pattern doesn’t run its usual course, we recognize the shift as it happens.
